Karen is the Project Officer for Don Catchment Rivers Trust. She has had a varied career and spent 10 years in Devon before moving back to her native South Yorkshire in Feb 2012 to start work as the Trust’s first employee.
Karen was one of the first students to complete the Foundation Degree In Sustainable River Basin Management taught by Westcountry Rivers Trust at Duchy College, Cornwall. Taught on a campus with moors, rivers and the sea on its doorstep, the course had a strong fieldwork element focusing on anything that lives in and around the river.
She went on to gain her BSc at University of Plymouth and then worked for the University in partnership with two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty surveying the Tamar Valley and Cornwall AONB for landscape character assessment. After which she then went on to become a Project Manager with Moors for the Future in the Peak District, responsible for moorland restoration with a hydrology based project.
